Banana Fish is a classic shōjo manga by Akimi Yoshida which ran from 1985 to 1994 and spawned several mini-spin-offs: Private Opinion, Angel Eyes, and The Garden with Holy Light. (A characters of Eiji Okumura & Akira Ibe were introduced in the early short story Fly Son, In the Sky.) A series wwhen quite popular around Japan, cited for its protective-boiled nature and severity as 'one of a couple of shōjo mangthe which a human can review barefacedly' by Frederik Schodt in his book Dreamland Japan.

The title is virtually all in all probability elysian per short story A Perfect Day for Bananafish by J.D. Salinger.

There are 19 Japanese tankōbon or eleven bunko reprints published by Shogakukan, an art book, Angel Eyes and Rebirth: The Banana Fish Official Guidebook. A spwithin-by-product come collected in one bunko titled Another Story. There was likewise the NHK radio drama, released around 1996 in Video when "BANANA FISH Part 1-3". Eiji was voiced by Kazuhiko Inoue and Ash Lynx was voiced by Toru Furusawa.

Banana Fish is published inside English by VIZ Media. A number one (at present out-of-print) graphic novel edition spanned a 1st seven volumes & featured 'flipped' graphics, subsequent "shōjo" editions come in the original perfect-to-left format & freed in the bi-monthly basis (these are of note that these future editions feature 'toned down' language & a bit of translational differences). A series too ran around each of Viz's failing manga magazines, Pulp and Animerica Extra for several years.

A accurate nature & severity of the warmly relationship between protagonist Ash Lynx and lensman's adjunct Eiji Okumura is of peachy speculation to fans.
